Benefit of Salmon

Salmon is high in protein and omega-3 fatty acids that provide well documented benefits for the heart and brain development. WholeMeal Salmon a good balance of amino acids, including methionine and lysine. In addition to high levels of essential amino acids, salmon fishmeal has a good balance of unsaturated fatty acids, certain minerals (available phosphorus), and vitamins (A, D, and B-complex).

Salmon is particularly high in selenium, an important nutrient that is involved in DNA synthesis, thyroid hormone metabolism, and reproductive health. It’s also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, a type of heart-healthy fat that can decrease inflammation and support brain health.

What’s more, salmon is rich in vitamin B12, which is necessary for producing red blood cells and regulating the health of the central nervous system and crucial in fish reproductive hormone regulation and proliferation.

FishMeal Aren’t Made Equal

The word fishmeal is used to describe all processed fish carcass base ingredients used in fish diets, however, their nutritional value is greatly variable.

Budget fishmeal may contain remnant pieces of fish after processing for human consumption and is used in aquarium or aquaculture diets to avoid waste. This is great for food fish but for aquarium circumstances nutrient deficiencies greatly impact life span, appearance, behaviour and reproductive activity.

WholeMeal Salmon can have up to 50 times more omega-3 fatty acids than processed sardine or bait fish fishmeal commonly used by budget aquarium food brands.

Carnivorous Fish Protein Digestion

Carnivorous fish metabolic energy needs can be met almost entirely from other fish body proteins extracting necessary vitamin, minerals and fat requirements. Carnivorous fish have specialised body protein digestion enzyme cocktails but almost no carbohydrate ones. If there were exactly 100 digestive enzymes 90 would be focused on body and just 10 on plant proteins, this is why they simply can’t utilise energy in plants.
