How we formulate AquaMunch fish food

1. Start with who will eat it.

An omnivorous community fish, an algae grazer, a newly hatched fry and an axolotl do not all need the same meal. We start with the intended animal and its feeding habits. That gives the formula a purpose before flavour or convenience enters the conversation.

Our range separates those jobs. Ultimate Omnivore puts insects at the centre of a mixed tropical menu. Super Greens specifies 38% spirulina. Catfish Crave includes clearly named cellulose for its intended grazing-catfish formulation. Nurture & Grow focuses on early feeding.

2. Choose ingredients for the whole recipe.

Australian salmon, Atlantic krill, insects, algae, vegetables and other ingredients each bring something different. A formula is about their balance, not collecting the longest possible ingredient list.

The nutrient profile, amount used, processing and the intended species matter together. A high headline protein figure alone does not tell you everything about suitability. SRAC’s Principles of Fish Nutrition explains why nutrient requirements vary between fish.

3. Give flavour a useful role.

Aniseed is used as a natural attractant in several formulas. Silkworm stood out in our axolotl feeding trials. Strawberry gives Snail Supreme part of its feeding appeal. These ingredients help connect the recipe to the way an animal responds to food.

Our rule stays the same: nutrition first, flavour second. Acceptance is useful feedback, but it is not a nutrient analysis or a guarantee of long-term results.

4. Match the format to the feeding routine.

AquaGel is a dry pre-mix, stirred with hot water and set into portionable gel. The keeper controls the prepared serving size. AquaFlake is made with a quick, low-temperature cooking process and can be offered to float, drift or sink.

We do not publish invented manufacturing temperatures or treatment times. The practical instructions for the finished product are on the pack.

5. Make freshness and clear labelling part of the process.

Our made-fresh-to-store approach begins production with a retailer’s order. Key ingredients are highlighted on the lids. We do not use label splitting to disguise the character of a formula.

Prebiotics, vitamins, minerals and other functional ingredients have a role alongside the main food ingredients. Binders help a gel hold together. Preservatives listed on a pack also have a practical purpose; a transparent recipe names them rather than pretending they do not exist.

What we promise to explain.

We describe the intended species, key ingredients, feeding format and preparation. Nutritional figures come from the product’s listed analysis. We keep fishroom observations separate from guaranteed outcomes and make room for the keeper’s experience.
